Who was La’Trevious Reed?

La’Trevious was a young 21-year-old African American father, son, brother and uncle who understood the violence epidemic the United States faces. La’Trevious graduated from Sam Houston High School in 2020 where he earned a football scholarship to (TJC) Tyler Junior College. Although his dream of being a professional (DB) Defensive Back didn’t come into existence, he still carried the competitive spirit of defense in his heart. He understood the violence epidemic better than a defensive back understanding the most complex defense. After almost being a victim to gun violence himself, losing close family and friends to gun violence, he did what most of us don’t and won’t, he took action. He started his application process to SAPD to become a part of the San Antonio Police Department, He knew to make a change he had to start with himself, so with that competitive spirit he overcame a very difficult choice to go against the stigma in the African American community and play defense against Gun Violence. With his help in Cofounding Impact Violence, he constantly talked about the change Impact Violence would  make and how big this could be while really helping the ones who really want out, but just don’t have an outlet! La’Trevious was ready to start the New Year of 2024 off with Impact Violence and a new career in joining law enforcement and fighting violence. Sadly, La’Trevious passed away December 13, 2023 in a tragic car accident while out trying to earn money as a delivery driver to give his daughter a great Christmas. In honor of La'Trevious to keep his wishes, decisions, and insight alive his family continued forward with the creation of Impact Violence the La’Trevious Reed Project. He believed wholeheartedly that this could and would work. He was tired of losing his friends and family to gun violence and wanted a way to help and this was his way of helping.
