The Bullet never misses the community
IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY
Mission Statement
"We envision communities where gun violence is replaced by opportunity, where trauma is met with healing, and where restored trust between the community and law enforcement creates a foundation for lasting safety. Impact stands at the forefront of this urgent transformation through evidence-based approaches and public awareness, turning despair into action and possibility."
Vision Statement
"Our mission is to transform despair into action by providing life-changing opportunities and evidence-based pathways to healing. By actively mending the relationship between the police department and the community through transparency and shared accountability, we foster the collaborative alignment necessary to break cycles of violence and secure stability, peace, and purpose for every individual."
Organizational Goals
Immediate Intervention: Provide rapid-response resources and research-backed alternatives for individuals at risk of involvement in gun violence, including trauma-informed crisis care at crime scenes and Community Violence Intervention (CVI) for mediation of high-risk individuals.
Essential Support: Secure sustainable access to employment, transportation, housing, and mental health services for program participants, including high-risk redirection and relocation services.
Relational Safety: Replace historical tension with a culture of mutual respect through transparency-focused initiatives and shared community engagement. We coordinate direct interactions between the community and key public safety stakeholders—including the Police Department, District Attorney’s office, Fire, and EMS—to foster the trust and collaborative alignment necessary for lasting safety, stability, and collective healing.
Survivor Advocacy: Amplify the voices of gun violence survivors and affected families in public policy and community decision-making through prison speaking engagements where parents tell their stories, parent and sibling interviews, and community speaking engagements at schools, churches, and police academies.
Gun Violence Awareness: Educate the public about the true impact and prevalence of gun violence through data-driven campaigns, community forums, media engagement, and our Community Violence Awareness Project featuring infographics distribution, social media awareness, and T-shirt awareness campaigns.
Research Application: Continuously integrate the latest research on violence prevention into all programs and initiatives to ensure maximum effectiveness and impact.
Healing and Support: Provide comprehensive healing resources through the Grieving Parents Group (GPG), victim family follow-up calls, 4–6-week support groups, and hosting vigils/celebrations of life including balloon releases.
Community Coordination: Serve as a funeral home liaison for families and coordinate responses between various stakeholders to ensure seamless support for those affected by gun violence.
Voices of Loss (Grieving Parents Group)
Voices of Loss are singularly equipped by their loss to influence the hearts and minds of their service population. By reliving their worst memories with strength and uncensored emotion, Voices of Loss possess unparalleled authority to speak truth to their experiences. Voices of Loss addresses individuals who are incarcerated or on probation or parole for gang related crimes.
Every week, our Voices of Loss and volunteers place phone calls to families of homicide victims to check in on their healing and mental state. And inform them of upcoming IMPACT VIOLENCE programs and events. Families may ask to be removed from our call list at any time.
“With real support from the community, we can slow down a big portion of Gun violence.”
— Levi Reed., Founder of Impact Violence
